What happened to my forest?
An interactive story where children get to help create the world that the squirrel "Kotte" lives in.
Together with the narrator, the children build a story about a squirrel in the forest. During the story, pictures are shown that help the children follow and understand the story visually. At selected times, the children also interact with a smell station, where they discover what smells Kotte can smell in his surroundings and discuss why these change. After the story, it is open for discussion.
The purpose of the story is to make visible how forests are affected by climate change in our society. The workshop is part of a study investigating how education about climate change can be made more accessible to younger children.
Children often show interest in environmental issues, but may have difficulty understanding the underlying processes. The study therefore wants to investigate how climate change can be made more understandable and engaging through narrative and interactive methods. The study is being carried out together with naturum Skrylle and Malmö University, during two-three workshops, where the first workshop concerns the story above.
To participate in the workshop, parental permission is required. We hope that many people will want to participate in the entire story, but since smell is a sensitive element, it is always voluntary to refrain from that part during the workshop.
